WHO WE ARE

The Gamma Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Omega was founded in 1940, and we are the second oldest standing organization at Clemson University. As we strive to live by the ideals set forth by our national founder, Frank Reed Horton, we place value in Alpha Phi Omega’s motto, “Be a Leader, Be a Friend, Be of Service.”

Alpha Phi Omega (APO) is a co-ed national intercollegiate service organization with fraternal origins founded on the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service. It provides its members the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they volunteer their time to their fraternity, their campus, their surrounding community, and their nation. With over 400,000 collegiate members making up over 369 active chapters, Alpha Phi Omega is the largest collegiate fraternity in the United States.

We are an inclusive group, open to all nationalities, backgrounds, and genders, and we welcome you to become part of our amazing organization so that together we can pursue a common goal – leading through service to others.

WHAT WE DO

Each semester, we put together a service calendar that correspond with the four pillars of service: fraternity, campus, community, and nation. While many of the projects we participate in vary from semester to semester, some of our projects remain a staple. Every year, we are proud to host the Clemson v.s. University of South Carolina “Blood Bowl,” where we annually save over 7,000 lives by recruiting students to donate blood.

In addition to our service projects, we strive to maintain strong ties with our Boy Scout heritage by hosting our Merit Badge University and our Scouting University, where young scouts have the opportunity to come and earn badges that they may not have access to through their units at home.

Other organizations that we have worked with include The American Cancer Society, UNICEF, CCDC, Our Daily Rest, Adopt-A-Highway, and the South Carolina Botanical Gardens.
